Today was my one year post-op checkup. It turns out I now have 20/15 vision in both of my eyes. I was joking with the Doctor while I was there that I see better after I visit the gym, but that I'm not going to complain. Of course, he was joking that I simply liked looking at the coeds and that I wasn't actually seeing any better.
Anyhow, figured it was worth adding in the follow up. Oh, another thing, I reported to the Doctor that I had woken up with dry eye on occasion, when I wasn't getting enough sleep or if I stayed up very late. He suggested there was an easy cure for this, which involved making sure to get enough sleep. Yeah, obviously a serious condition from his point of view.
The dry eye is a bit disconcerting to me because I'd never experienced it before. It actually hurts to open your eyes or blink, because your eyelid appears to be stuck to your eyeball. What the heck is up with that? Anyway, upon a blink or two you at least lubricate your eyeball and I'm sure the dry surface slowly soaks up some moisture and returns to normal.
In any case, the Doctor does look into your eyes and search for problems. So, I'm sure if there was anything significant going on I'd have heard about it. If you just found my site, you can follow my surgery and recovery details by jumping all the way to the beginning (see the archives). If you are considering your own surgery, good luck!
